Why first impressions still matter (even in a digital-first market)

With most property searches starting online, it’s easy to assume that physical first impressions matter less.

In reality, they matter just as much - if not more.

Online listings create interest. But it’s the in-person experience that converts that interest into action.

When buyers arrive at a property, they’re quickly forming impressions:
 • The condition of the exterior
 • The feeling as they step inside
 • The sense of space and light

These moments are often subconscious, but they’re powerful.

If the first impression feels positive, buyers are more likely to:
 • Engage emotionally
 • Overlook minor flaws
 • Move forward confidently

If it feels uncertain, hesitation creeps in, even if the property meets their needs on paper.
That’s why preparing for viewings is just as important as preparing for photography.
Because ultimately, decisions are made in person.
