Loney Miller loves: Top things to do during Wimbledon

Published: 27/06/2025 By Loney Miller

It’s that time of year again! Southfields is buzzing with tennis players and spectators, all here for the iconic Wimbledon Championships. But the tennis tournament is filled with much more than what you see on the court…alongside the beauty, history and spectacle of the sport there is plenty to explore away from the matches.

This two-week extravaganza is filled with well-dressed viewers, crates of strawberries and of course a cheeky Pimm’s or two. With thousands flocking to south west London to watch since 1877, it is no surprise that the buzz created inside Wimbledon is continued outside of centre court and in the surrounding neighbourhoods. From local pubs filled with tennis fever, to exploring the local area and some hidden gems, here’s how to make the most of your time at Wimbledon.

Head to Southfields

Just up the road from Wimbledon you have Southfields, home of Loney Miller. Take a stroll through Wimbledon Park and you can take in the beautiful Edwardian terraces of the Southfields Grid before grabbing a bite to eat or a drink in Southfields Village.

Visit Wimbledon Village

A visit to Wimbledon wouldn’t be complete without exploring the heart of the community, Wimbledon Village. Through the perfect mix of indie boutiques, chic cafes and boujee bookstores it’s the perfect way to get the local feel.

For the foodies you are more than covered, whether it’s Thai, Italian or Tapas there’s something for you to enjoy in this picturesque village. For those of you who love a stroll, taking a walk in Wimbledon Common is the ideal place to relax during the championship.

Head down to Wimbledon Farmers’ Market

If you want a slow Sunday before the buzz of the competition starts, head down to Wimbledon’s local farmers market on Sunday 29th June 10am - 3pm. Fresh fruit, food and arts await at Wimbledon Piazza for you to enjoy.

This is the perfect way to kick off the celebrations, and get involved with the local community. Plus, you can pick up all the food and snacks needed to make Wimbledon week a good one.

Watch Wimbledon on the big screen

Grab your friends and a beer and make your way to the Piazza for free, live screenings of the Championships, making sure you don’t miss a thing. From June 30th to July 13th you can watch world-class matches accessible for all your friends and family, including your furry friends (yes it’s dog-friendly!).

Eat at Megan’s in the Village restaurant

If you’re looking for the perfect way to get into the swing of the day you’ll be in good hands at Megan’s. Known for its Mediterranean style brunch, delicious coffee and refreshing cocktails there’s no better place to fuel up.

The restaurant has had a full makeover in preparation for the tournament including some special menu additions to keep you fueled and topped up for the tournament. From their Centre Court pancake stack and Strawberry serve’s drink there’s no better way to get in the mood for the tournament.

Dine at The Ivy Cafe in Wimbledon

Located in the heart of Wimbledon, this sophisticated all-day dining offers great food in a relaxed, friendly environment. With great vegetarian and vegan options The Ivy offers a dining experience for everyone to love.

They are offering an exclusive winning Wimbledon dessert, the Centre Court Melting Bombe, served with a white chocolate shell with strawberries and shortbread.
