Loney Miller Loves: The home interior trends you need to know about for 2024

Published: 21/02/2024 By Loney Miller

Good news, we’re almost at the end of February and spring is on the horizon! Spring is always a good time to freshen up your home and at Loney Miller, we love an interior refresh. Take a read of some of our favourite trends to look out for this year that will help you fall in love with your home.

Biophilic Bliss:

What exactly is biophilic bliss, you ask? To be biophilic is a human tendency to want or need to be close to other forms of life in nature.
Continuing on from last year, in 2024 we’re seeing a continued rise in owners opting for this interior trend. This style includes features such as:

  • Nature-inspired colour palettes
  • Adorning spaces with plants and flowers
  • Organic textures in throws or wallpapers
  • Bright animal or plant prints
This nature-focused trend not only enhances how beautiful your home looks, but also helps improve your wellbeing, as it fosters a connection with the outdoors - win-win, right?
Check out some of our current properties where they’ve used biophilic notes to create a more calming, serene space in their homes.

Maximalist Revival:

Move over, minimalism – maximalism is making a return this year! Bold colours, vibrant patterns, and an eclectic mix of textures are taking centre stage. Homeowners are embracing the idea of expressing their personality through their interiors, creating spaces that are visually rich and filled with character. It's about embracing individuality and creating a home that tells a unique story.
Strangely enough, a lot of properties we’ve seen in and around South West London, have braved their most maximalist, bold and bright designs in their downstairs loos! Who’d have thought it?
Our Co-Founder, Maddie’s favourite trend falls into this maximalist trend revival. She said: “I’m loving busy floral wallpapers at the moment. I’ve been to a couple of properties that were decorated in the ‘60s recently and the owners have kept the original wallpapers, that now companies like House of Hackney are imitating; so cool!”
Here are some great examples of maximalism being utilised beautifully in some of our current available properties:

Tech-Integrated Living:
The smart home revolution is here to stay, with 2024 seeing a seamless integration of technology into interior spaces.
From voice-controlled lighting and thermostats to smart furniture that adapts to your needs, homeowners are embracing the convenience and efficiency that technology brings to modern living. Expect to see homes where every element is interconnected for a more streamlined and automated lifestyle.
With Londoners more likely to be remote workers than any other region in the UK, and 44% of the UK in general working remotely [standoutcv.com], choosing a smart home or making your new home as integrated as possible will definitely make life easier for a lot of our clients here in South-West London.

Sustainable Chic:

In 2024, sustainability is not just a buzzword but a way of life. Modern homeowners are increasingly opting for eco-friendly materials and practices, as they look at reducing their carbon footprint. Expect to see a surge in furniture made from recycled materials, energy-efficient lighting, and a growing preference for natural, renewable resources like bamboo and cork.

Art Deco Glamour:

Finally, we’re heading back to the 1920s! Drawing inspiration from the glamorous Art Deco era, 2024 is already seeing a resurgence of opulence and sophistication. Think:
  • Bold geometric patterns
  • Luxurious materials like marble and brass
  • Sumptuous velvet furnishings
Art Deco elements add a touch of glamour and timeless elegance to contemporary interiors, creating a sense of luxury that never goes out of style.
